My first zapping story

Got the zapping kit earlier today, which was pretty much a 5 volt DC power source that plugged into my AC outlet, with instructions. I followed the instructions up to a point, and I started zapping a totally encrusted coin. Found small bare spots to clip the alligator connector to, with a spoon on the other one as the other node. After 5 minutes, nothing. After an hour, nothing. After a couple hours, I check on the clip to the spoon, and it has BEEN EATEN AWAY. Heh. So I disconnect everything and order more clips from Amazon. But I think, you know, if I just wrap the wire around the handle and submerge the scoop part, it should still work. And it did. But man, this is still taking freaking FOREVER to get the crud off. So about 3 am, I lose patience and see if the crud will come off if I pick at it with my brass pin. And lo and behold, it does!
Guess what, all that was under there was a completely smooth surface. I waited all that time to zap a slug. And as I was getting some of the more stubborn crud off, it broke! Heh. These can get very delicate, it would appear. Don’t even have anything I wanted to photo, threw the whole mess away. But hey, at least I didn’t ruin a possible treasure. Live and learn.
