New Pontius Pilate

I’ve never been happy with the Pontius Pilate I bought previously. So here’s a new one I bought, an AE prutah from 29AD:
Pontius Pilate
Yes, I had some spare cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Star of Bethlehem

After reading about this coin at Scotvs Capitis, I had to have one:
Star of Bethlehem
That star on the reverse is supposedly the star!

The “traditional” tribute penny

I got this for a song off eBay (from a reputable dealer):
Tribute Penny
I wanted one to put next to the “alternate” one I have on my monitor stand, to stare at and feel up. Pretty sure I got this for such a low price because the photo on the listing was just terrible. I wasn’t expecting it to look as good as it does when I purchased it. This photo is one I took. Not bad, eh?

And we’re history

Herod Antipas
This is a Herod Antipas, which completes my relevant lifetime of Jesus coin collection. I’ve been looking at Greek coins lately, just for artistry’s sake. Will keep you posted of any buys. Cheers.

Back shopping

After a hiatus, I am back buying coins. I’ve sold a domain name and got some hours logged doing some QA, so among other things, I bought this Nero:
Nero
Like having one of the 30 pieces of silver of Judas, this was sort of a perversely must-have. This is the emperor whose name (NERO CAESAR) added up to 666, and thus gave us the number of the Beast. Supposedly, he was such a frightful figure that people expected him to come back from the dead after he committed suicide.

Another oldie

Widow’s Mite
I have 4 Widow’s Mites, but this one is probably my best one.

Yes, another one

Remember the last Augustus Denarius I sold? This should tell you why: I had three. This was the latest one:
Augustus
You know, the alternate “Tribute Penny”. I keep this one in front of me on my monitor stand, where I contemplate the message, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s”.
